Ohio Treasurer Kevin L. Boyce Receives National Award
Honored for Dedication to Financial Literacy
COLUMBUS—Ohio Treasurer Kevin L. Boyce Thursday received the Distinguished Partner Award from the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP) for his commitment to financial literacy, specifically the Smart Money Choices conference series.
“I am humbled to receive the Distinguished Partner Award,” said Treasurer Boyce, who was recently recognized for the Treasury’s commitment to Israel Bonds from the State of Israel. “One of our top priorities at the Ohio Treasury is the financial security of Ohio’s families. Our financial literacy programs, specifically the Smart Money Conference series, provide participants with the necessary tools to help them thrive in this economy, and I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the Ohio Treasury.”
The Ohio Treasury launched the Smart Money Choices conference series this May, and to date, has visited eight of the eleven cities designated for the tour. The day-long seminar has multiple sessions led by financial experts, covering topics such as credit and debt, budgeting, investments, kids and money, and retirement planning. The seminar series focuses on a variety of topics: The Changing Middle Class; From Economic Hard Times to Economic Hope Time; An Apple A Day--Honoring the Families of Appalachia; Honoring the Honorable—Military Outreach; and the popular Women and Money Conference. The conferences are free and open to the general public.
In addition to the Smart Money Choices conference series, the Ohio Treasury also provides The Center for Public Investment Management (CPIM) is a statutorily required program which provides continuing education to local government finance officers, and training for treasurers of public service school districts, libraries, and other local government entities.
NASP is a national nonprofit organization of minority and female professionals in the securities industry. The organization serves as an informational resource for its members and others in the securities industry. NASP also seeks to ensure that minorities and women have an equal share in the securities industry. Currently, there are eight chapters of NASP across the country.
